In the vein of The Time Traveler’s Wife and Life After Life, The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue is New York Times bestselling author V. E. Schwab’s genre-defying tour de force.

A Life No One Will Remember. A Story You Will Never Forget.

France, 1714: in a moment of desperation, a young woman makes a Faustian bargain to live forever—and is cursed to be forgotten by everyone she meets.

Thus begins the extraordinary life of Addie LaRue, and a dazzling adventure that will play out across centuries and continents, across history and art, as a young woman learns how far she will go to leave her mark on the world.

But everything changes when, after nearly 300 years, Addie stumbles across a young man in a hidden bookstore and he remembers her name.

  • Incredibld

Read this if you want to immerse yourself in a magical, yet realistic and heartbreaking story. The writing is gorgeous, the characters feel genuine and they truly come alive on the page. It blends dreams and reality masterfully, a touch of dark magic in the real world. This is the kind of book you’ll be thinking about long after you finish reading it (I know I will be).

This is by far my second most favorite book in my whole entire life. My first was kissed by an angel, but this was a whole entire new genre. Her words are like silk, her words are like honey melting into one another to build a beautiful past present and future. Woah. In love.

  • An incredible story

I couldn’t put it down. I could feel the anticipation, and the 300 years of build up made it all better. And I loved the author’s style and storytelling.

I just want to say that this book is exactly like the God in the shadow a blessing and a curse. I have never cried more and been so happy at the same time. Perfect writing.

I cannot express how much I loved this book! It beautifully spins a world of life ,love, and magic through history. It’s bitter and sweet with loss and triumph. What a wonderful story ,I couldn’t put it down !
  • Waste of time

    By NAF19
I don’t understand the praise for this book. There were so many spectacular events in history that could have been discussed but instead her continually abusive relationship with Luc is emphasized. I kept hoping for something more but never got it. Waste of time and money.
  • My favorite book

  • I am speechless

Have you ever heard a song and you had to stop whatever you were doing just to listen to it with your eyes closed? This book was like that for me. I am so far from my favored genre but this book has its hooks in me. It was like reading poetry. It was like I was in a dream. It was like I was reading the lyrics of a favorite song. It’s everything I love rolled into one. I was bawling at the end, then smirking on the last page. No other book has made me feel the way I do now. Beautiful, timeless, tragic. My favorite read of the year(maybe the decade)
